Hey Guys,
__________________I have a Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe with a BFG 8800 GT OC. The PCI-E slots in the M2N-SLI Deluxe are only at x8x8 when you have it on SLI. 1.) Would it be worth getting another BFG 8800 GT OC? (considering it will only be at x8x8) 2.) How much of a performance drop is the x8x8 setting compared to the x16x16? Thanks

Vista uninstalled again..

The performance drop should be barley noticeable with 8800gt's.

Maybe 1 or 2 fps lower than 16x16

x16 isnt really a HUGE difference, as with 8800gt's dont really require much over 8 anyways.
__________________x16 WILL be better, but if its worth an upgrade just for that... no. I would wait though, get a new board in a short while and go with a 4870

i think its more for 'futureproofing' as far as it goes.
__________________At least these board can handle gpus which require insane amounts of data over the pci-e bus, and users wont have to upgrade their board to be able to run these cards. I suspect the GTX280 might see a difference in 16 over 8

And also, considering that my mobo is only PCIE 1.1, not 2.0. & that it is only x8x8 in SLI, not x16x16, will i get a significant drop in FPS? From what i am getting from marsey99 is that it will only be a 3% drop? Also, i have a Antec Trio 550w as my PSU. Will this be enough power to run 8800 gt OC in SLI considering that i have my CPU oc'd? (in signature) The Antec trio has 3x 12 volt rails, each has 18Amps

The Antec Trio 550w does not have 3 18A rails.... the specs just don't say what it really can do. If it did, the PSU would be rated for 700-800w.

Here's a Tom's Hardware Review. Although the article is more swayed toward ATI and xfire it still does comparisons with Nvidia cards in x16 and x18 slots as well as comparisons with pciexpress 1.0 and 2.0. The review is a few months old but it is definitely a good read all the way through.
