I have an Asus M2N-SLI deluxe board with a Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor. The stock fan seems to be doing well and i have good overall flow in my case.
__________________I was looking at upgrading the cpu heatsink and cooler but had some hesitation about what would fit. I really like the design of the Zalman 8700. The downward airflow would help keep the heatpipe and ram cooler, but will it fit? I don't want to risk buying it and having to deal with returning it and shipping etc. If that model wont work, any other recommendations?

K. so i've manned up and decide to get a full size cooler. Haven't picked one, but i'll refer to the cooling forums. thanks for no one telling me i'm stupid for wanting a low profile cooler because it looks nice.

You could try the 9700, I heard they are pretty good. Also, I have here a 7700, and its a low profile, and it fit on a board with very similar heatsink configurations (m2n32-sli) so I dont think you have a problem.
