Have you rechecked the 24 and 4 pin power connections?
Make sure none of the terminals have backed out of PS cables moldex. You might also want to try the OB with out the add on vid card.

Exactly what I was gonna say. Could also be cpu or undervolted ram.

well, the power connections are 20 pin to the mobo from the powersupply,
but they fit fine with msi "foolproof design" yer im a fool and it's not me proof! haha as for stopping the beeping, i removed the mobo and pressed hard to make sure the ram was in properly, it clicked and seemed in firmer! The CPU is in fine working order, the fan spins fine and the guy i bought it off has had it in his pc since January, i am unsure what to do. oh and the psu should be fine, i was using last night with P4 and ASUS motherboard.

You could buy a 1gb stick of DDR2 PC4200. Its pretty cheap on newegg. Here's a corsair stick for $7 + s/h.

The laptop ram is a different type altogether I'm afraid.
If your absolutely sure it's the ram (and having read the last 4 pages it certainly looks like that it is) I'm afraid you'd have to get a lend or buy some ram that is 1.8v default and is on your mobo's qualified vendor list (just to be safe). I had a similar problem when I got my current mobo and cpu. My motherboard didn't support the cpu straight out of the box with the bios that came with it. I had to buy an old processor, 30 euro for a proc that I may never use again. But should something like that ever happen again, I'll be okay cause I have it in a safe place :-). Personally I would recommend forking out the £10 or so, get crucial or some brand that is very popular because it will be compatible with a large range of motherboards, so at least in the future if something like this happens you will have it just in case. Or one of your friends might have a similar problem and sell it to them.
