Default Help me flash my BIOS.

Hey guys, Yesterday I started a thread in the Nvidia section about how my SLI wouldn't work ( http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/360141-sli-woes.html ), and after trying everything I could think of, I'm left with 2 options.

option 1. Reformat Vista, pray it works.
option 2. Flash BIOS, pray that it works.

http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion...hp?t51688.html

^^ that guy seems to be having the same problem as me, with the same OS/Mobo.

So, I'm 80% sure It's my BIOS I need to update. I've found several BIOS versions.

The first one is BIOS version 1201, which says "supports new CPU's" (released in 2/13/08)

The 2nd one is BIOS Version 1101, which claims it's the latest version (released 11/21/07)

Finally my question, Which BIOS do i go with?

If my flash fails, what can I do to repair it? (e/x take out BIOS Chip?)

And how do I flash my BIOS?

Thanks everyone

go by the date. Technically they should all be the 'latest' version, until something newer comes out.

Well, there should be an in-bios updater that operates on a jumpdrive. or you could format /s a jumpdrive and imitate a floppy (another way is to use an HP jumpdrive system tool, which makes a 98 startup disk from jumpdrive)

The jumpdrive/98/hp method is the safest. Next in line would be the floppy, followed by bios. Many people report success in widnows, but due to the nature of the operating system, I wouldnt bet anything on it... least of all my PC's lifeline.

OK. here's the proper and safe way to flash the Asus using a flash drive. On this link. Scroll down to where it says "The Guide" in red letters.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=179580

Use the procedure shown in that guide. That was for flashing the Maximus Formula to a Rampage bios. But your procedure will be exactly the same. But you will use the bios for your board of course. This works. I know. I used it.

EDIT: One last thing. Flash the bios with stock settings. Never overclocked settings. Good luck

So, clear the CMOS before flashing?
