Hello.... first of all why is this thread in the 3rd page? no new owners??
![]() Ok, I have a probelm.... I had all working ok and had to break it ...... I bought a CoolerMaster 690 case, and moved everything over...Now I get NTLDR is missing and can't boot into Vista.... I might of missed the previous order of the disks, but in the bios I changed the order of the 2 SATA and the IDE (trying to boot from the three of them) and all have the same problem... So, in the BIOS the three drives are detected correctly.... but I start the Vista DVD and go to repair and sees no drives..... The motherboard shows 00 on the leds which means "00 Call the Int19 boot loader " I think.... I tried disconecting fans from the case to see if it was because of the power.... Any ideas??!!! Thanks! |

The A79A-S has a SmartFan option, which will automatically adjust fan rotation speed based on temperature. But no fine tuning is possible, and a 0% speed will never occur whatever the temps are.
I am quite satisfied with the performance and stability of this board, but I have one problem with it: I get ridiculously high temps reported with any software like Everest or HWMonitor, etc. The other day I was running Prime for 38 mins and CPU temp climbed as high as 89C. I'm almost positive that this can't be the true temp, because stability remained and no Prime errors occured whatsoever. I mean my cooler is Scythe Kabuto which ain't too bad and the heat pipes of it are very hot to the touch, so heat transfer seems to work properly. Is there anybody else getting this kind of temps reported? Btw. I got Phenom II 940 installed running at default U and 3,4 GHz core clock / 2,4 GHz NB Last edited by kickloch : 06-01-09 at 08:29 AM |

@kickloch, Those temp looks too high for the Phenom II. With my x3 720be, I am getting around 44C load and 30C idle (oc to 3540Mhz @1.42v, NB 2530Mhz, HT 2530Mhz). I am using Xigmatek S1283 as the cooler and it is the easiest cooler I have ever work with.
As for the Foxconn A79A-S mobo, what is your experience with the motherboard? The mobo itself is very stable in my opinion. The only thing I hate is the BIOS. Most of the time, I had to numerously cold restart the pc just to get it to boot to windows after changes in BIOS. Also, I hate using those HEX numbers.

yes, those sound to be too high.
I'm currently with no OC, stock cooler. Running PES 2009 with gpu Folding@home in the background I get 50C as the highest. Runing 3dMark vantage I got to 52C. When I tried a small OC (@3200MHZ) via AMD Overdrive I got to 55C. Case is a CM690, before with a generic Vitsuba case I had +3C.... |

Yeah, my case is also CM690.
@diegolaz, what cpu cooler are you using?

Hi there,
apart from the temperature values I'm gettin I can't complain about this board. Okay, the hex values can be a nuisance, and issues with hangin after bios changes aren't too nice either. But the only tweaks I made this time around is up the core and northbridge multipliers plus setting my ram latency values manually. This way it wouldn't hang when restarting from the bios. as far as the temps are concerned I'm perfectly aware of the fact, that they are way too high. But as I wrote I can't really believe they are real. I guess I have to buy an infra red thermometer and measure myself. I was just curious if anybody else of you guys here considered the read out values faulty. @diegolaz I tried installing an Ninja Plus rev. B (from 2007) on the board, but heatpipes interfere with the first slot RAM module, however I dunno if newer revisions of the Ninja still make trouble Last edited by kickloch : 06-02-09 at 10:31 AM |
