The 1st one is better due to it's SB750. It MASSIVELY increases the overclocking of Phenom chips over the older SB600.

If you are getting a Phenom board for OCing, SB750 is the way to go.

I believe this board is better -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136057
It has the newer SB750 which I believe is much better for phenoms. I honestly don't know why the other one is more expensive yet worse though

It has nothing to do with the board, really, just their naming scheme.

As for the 2nd board being more expensive, it's because it's a UT, and the 1st board is a Dark. The Dark line is cheaper, in general, than the UT series. However, I don't think they have yet released a UT 790FX / SB750 board, so that one is their current "top of the line" board, even though some of the "lower end" boards have better features. When there is a UT 790FX / SB750 board, they will most likely discontinue the 790FX / SB600 board.

So, get the Dark board. It's better overall, and the DK series still gets great overclocks. There's no advantage or disadvantage to it being a "LAN Party" board, it's just the way they name most of their boards.

This should help you to learn what the chip does
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southbridge_(computing)

Basically, the MB manages the RAM and Vid
South Bridge or SB as we say, deals with the other devices.
