Default PLEASE HELP! my sons new build, completely dead

hello, just built my son a new computer, mobo gigabyte ga-m57sli-s4, cpu am2 5600, 500 watt psu, corsair xms2 2 x 1gb, gpu 9800gtx+ 512mb (palit), dvd rom, dvd rw, card reader, floppy, budget atx case. Just finished building it and I'm getting nothing its completely dead when I'm switching on. I've tried the power supply in another computer and all is fine. At the moment i'm using one stick of 2gb pc2 8500 ocz reaper, while I'm waiting for the corsair to turn up could this be the problem? If not I'm thinking the mobo is dead? Any help would be really appreciated.

Yeah, check and tell us if when you turn it on (right pins connected?) that all the fans turn on and the HDD spins up.

you might have misplaced the little wires from the power btn to your mobo .. so when you push the button nothing happens ... happened to me once

Check every single connection and try different RAM if you can.

Try everything outside of the case first. Might be a short in mobo tray or power button lines are shorting on the case; since you said budget case.

yeah completely dead, nothing, no lights, no hard drive spin up nothing. I understand what you mean about the wires as it happened to me before so I've messed around with them and still nothing. Can't try different ram yet as waiting for it to arrive, but even if it was the ram I would have thought that I would still have had some sort of power? As I say I've eliminated the psu by trying in a different computer and it worked. The wires coming from the case (hdd led, pwrsw, resetsw, pwrled have different colours, some have white which I gather is ground) as I say still nothing

Make sure the power button is plugged into the correct header, or plugged in at all for that matter. White should be negative, Color should be positive. Ive had that prob. before...

I would look the mobo over for any damage even if its small. You never know. Did you try other PSUs on the board? I didnt see anywhere where you said you did, but I may have missed it.
