So I've been pulling some data together from my own tests and from most of the hardware and oc forums out there, in order to come up with a list of the mobos on which unlocking the fourth core of the Phenom II X3 have been confirmed to work, as well as the mobos on which it doesn't.
That way if some people wanna buy one of these new procs, well at least they'd know which mobo to pair it up with. If you can prove with some pics or a cpu-z valid that a mobo supports this "mod" (or doesn't), please reply to this thread so I can keep it updated. Btw this has been reported working with CPUs with the following weeks of production, however only the 0904 seems to be occt/prime95 stable and even then, not for everybody: 0846, 0851, 0904, 0906. Confirmed working : ASRock AOD790GX/128M http://www.playwares.com/xe/?document_srl=2246121#78 (korean site) ASRock M3A790GXH/128M http://my.ocworkbench.com/2009/amd/A...0x4%20copy.jpg Asus M3A79-T Deluxe http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=510443 Asus M4A79-T Deluxe http://www.parkoz.com/zboard/view.ph...k_amd&no=26868 Requires flashing the BIOS with the latest one found here Biostar TA790GX3 A2+ http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=514988 Biostar TA790GX 128M Don't really have a link for this one since it's the mobo the Korean who revealed this trick used, but on none of his I could see the mobo's name. Also reported working by other sites as well so... DFI LanParty DK790FXB-M2RS http://resources.vr-zone.com//upload...20_to_X4_1.jpg Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=514954http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=514843 Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4 Reported working by quite a few people but no pics, no valid so far Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...cpumark_x4.jpg Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P Reported working here but no pic http://www.matbe.com/actualites/comm...-phenom-ii-x3/ (french site) Reported/Tested not working on: Asus M3A78 Pro Same as above Asus M3A78-T Same thing, different mobo ![]() ECS Elitegroup A780GM-A Ultra http://www.playwares.com/xe/?document_srl=2246121#78 (korean site) Jetway HA07 For this one, it has only been tested on the basic HA07 version, neither on the Ultra or Ultra 3. Has been reported not working on playwares, who in turn have been quoted by ocw. I'll keep em coming soon as I find some new valids or pics for new mobos. In the meantime, do no hesitate to post if you've got some evidence that a mobo works and isn't yet listed. And if you personaly tested a mobo with one of the chips of the right weeks of prod, and that it didn't work, please let us know as well (but refrain from posting about mobos that don't have a SB750 since they're the only ones that support ACC atm it's obvious they're the only ones who might work)

Not true. The article says it does not work. -2009/01/09자 바이오스 업데이트시 ACC : AUTO, Per Core 모두 부팅시 프리징 <- means when they update the bios that was released on jan 9th of 2009, it freezes when computer boots up with acc auto setting -2009/2/12자 바이오스 업데이트시 ACC : AUTO, Per Core 세팅하여도 트리플코어로 인식 For the bios released on feb 12th, it boots up with acc auto setting on, but it recognizes only 3 cores

Got in touch with one of the admins of that french website, who personaly confirmed it was working. They had to flash the BIOS to get the ACC to work, but after that it was ok.
On another note, the M4A79T Deluxe doesn't support this lil tweak (at least mine doesn't, and I've tried all the BIOS available from Asus) but I managed to get some good ocs on the 3 original cores so it's not much of a big deal to me. So I'd advise you to go for the Gigbyte if you are certain your chip is from an unlockable batch, else it's just a matter of personal preference.

![]() Although I read on some forums that the 0903 batch couldn't unlock the 4th core. Either way, we'll find out tomorrow.
