Default DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D

Ok, my dad wants me to build him a PC, well i was planning on getting the Venice core 3000+ or should i get the 3200+ because of the higher multiplier? If i got this board, DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D, and had DDR 600 I wouldnt have to put a divider at all would i? could i not just run it up to like 10x300 if it was still cool enough and such. I mean what would limit me, i've read that the motherboard can get way past 300 and i guess the only limit would be my cpu, or my heat. I plan on getting this heatsink with 2 80mm fans, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835106044. I dont see what would hold me back from maybe getting to 3ghz if i got the 3200+. What do you guys of a lot of knowledge think, and how high did you guys get yours?

i'm thinking the CPU itself because i don't see many 3200+ get 3Ghz. Transonic has the 3700+SD and he can't seems to make it runs at 3Ghz stable (last time i read his thread was 1-2 weeks ago). So chances are that you can't get 3Ghz

That heatsink will not get your 3200+ to 3.0ghz sorry but you do have a good chance for 3.0ghz if you ge a a $1k phase change unit at around -40c on the cpu

You'd be better off getting the ThermalTake Sonic Tower since it has more evaluation/testing available on it. As far as asking opinions on a final overclock, that's not really possible. Every cpu is different and performs differently.

The 3000+ and the 3200+ OC very well... try out Gogars ... here are a few results with a 300Mhz FSF/DDR600 w a 3200+ @ 10X
Watch the " lower the better"

The Sonic seems to ba huge but very efficent... and there are some very good reviews on it ... gotta love a HS that uses a 120mm fan

well i dont think he's gonna spend the money for the phase change kit, being 1k, plus yeah i know every cpu is different i just wanted your opinions and thoughts. So i guess getting 3.0ghz is out of the question then. So does it really matter which processor i get? I'll probalby jsut get the 3000+ becuase its like $45 cheaper. but looking at like a 2.5-2.7 oc depending on CPU and how cool it is.

You guys think that Heatsink is ok or should i get that other one mentioned?

There are several good units out there by both Thermalright like the XP-120 or SI-120 and Thermaltake Sonic!
There are a ton of excelent reviews on those 2 brands!
One that covers the Thermaltake contenders very well!

It really depends though, he may get lucky and get a decent chip. Some including myself can go over 300 HTT so it's not out of the realm of possibility.
