Default Switching motherboards

Ok wondering if this is a good switch before i do it
i currently have a MSI Neo2-f brand new but i got to thinking after i got it AGP it's time to upgrade to something diffrent for a change
so im switching brands of motherboard and brands of Graphic's card

im going to switch to a
ABIT AN8 Fatal1ty SLI
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127206

and pair it with

2x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150108

and i thought this would come in use when i start to OC my comp.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813999405

and my athlon 64 4000+
and 1gig (512x2) of Kingston hyper X timing 2-2-2-5

i was going to wait for crossfire but im tired of waiting and i want to get on wow again ASAP.

How well do you think that setup will work, my current PSU should work right 500 watt X-Connect used to have a 600 watt one it got messed up

wow very nice upgrade. And yes the power supply will work. But does it have a 24-pin connector? If not you are going to need to pick up a 20-24 convertor to plug it in to your new board

Just my opinion, but I think you're better off dumping the SLI and buying 1 7800gtx and a non SLI board. With the money savings, get watercooling and OC the cr*p out of everything. You can take the water with you when you move on to the next system. Buying 2 cards that are already not state of the art and even more money into an expensive mb isn't the best solution, but that's just my .02. That is a REALLY nice setup, but I think the single 7800 gtx with w/c would run circles around it and leaves you with something to move forward with in the future. Whatever you decide, gl to ya!

I got a new job, my old job sucked and wasn't getting enough hours.the 9800SE is from my old system that died (athlon xp 2400+ melted) and i needed my comp back ASAP so i just bought a cheap MOBO that could support my agpx8 and i already knew i was going with socket 939 so i went ahead and got my athlon 64 4000+. and knew i was going to change it in a lil bit plus a freind is going to buy my MSI off me anyway so it all works out.

And two 7800GT's out perform 1 GTX, and 7800gt's are basically the same speed as th gtx and it's cheaper to double it.

How many games actually support SLI or crossifre right now? WHy spend 800$ when you can spend 400$ and have excellent performance and then upgrade your graphics at a later time and save 100$ or so?

That's where you and I disagree. I would much rather have 1 gtx than 2 gt's. Some games, 2 in SLI are actually slower. (Barely, but still) I just feel that by the time you really need 2 cards, you'll be onto the next system with SLI2 or Crossfire2. Like I said, it's a really nice system, but w/c with 1 card would be the smarter move and would be more powerful because it'd allow you to OC your cpu more also. Not to mention, you can take the w/c with you when you build another system. You can't go wrong with either move, I just wanted to give you some food for thought.
