Overclocker in Training
|
Please forgive me if this has been discussed and explained already. I have read some general bios guides and have the basics down. There are some options in my bios though that I have not found any info on, and would like/need to know what these are. Hopefully these questions and answers will assist other newbs like myself who only know the bare basics.
__________________I will highlight in red the options that I do not understand, and would like some info/explanation on. If you want to just pick one setting out and explain what it is, or take a stab at all of them please go right ahead. Reps for all and much thanks in advance as well. The areas not highlighted in red are the ones that I do have a understanding of. I am listing these to simply cut down on confusion. (Many times, various settings will seem the same, when actually they are not) I will also list the available parameters on some of the settings in parenthesis ( ) I just have two areas of concern right now. The uGuru Utility, and the Advanced Chipset sections. The first option in the bios is the uGuru Utility. The top of this section is the basics. It is the second part into the voltages that things become unclear. -CPU- -External Clock- (200Mhz-400Mhz) -Multiplier Factor- (5x-11x) -PCIE Clock- (100Mhz-xxx?) I will never mess with this, omitted limits. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Voltages Control -CPU Core Voltage- (1.350v-1.700v) -DDR SDRAM Voltage- (2.50v-3.40v) -DDR VTT Voltage- (1.25v-1.75v, DDR/2) Default on this is DDR/2 -nForce Voltages- (1.50v-1.80v) -DDR REF. Voltage (-60 to +60) 0 is labeled "Default" -CPU REF. Voltage (-60 to +60) 0 is "Default" -HyperTransport Voltage (1.20-1.35) The second section of the bios I am asking about is Advanced Chipset Features -HT Frequency- (1x-5x) -HT Width- (8/8 , 16/8 , 8/16 , 16/16) The first number has an arrow pointing up, the second number has one pointing down. -The next setting opens up a page that has to do with the RAM timings. I won't list these and am not asking about that section. -32 bit DRAM Memory Hole- (Auto, Software, Hardware, Disabled) -MTRR Mapping Mode (Continuous, Discrete) Thanks for looking at this and for any info about any of the settings in red up above. I have looked around the forums, and in my mobo manual and haven't a clue what these do specifically.

Going Broke Overclocking

Sorry... I can only suggest doing an Advanced search for your board here to see if there is any relavant info... not a lot of Abit boards in that series here!
What I can say is those with the Guru say don't use it!
