from that thread above - it seems that they have issues with >2 sticks of ddr2 1066 (rated)
So maybe go with good 800 sticks nad overclock them. as i said befroe - my 800sticks can do 1300mhz - but mine are really good ones....

All of those seem good - the Crucial ones will not clock as high as mine tohugh - mine are double sided sticks (each chip on the ram is less dense - allows higher clocks) where as the ones you can buy now are all single sided (or more dense chips on the sticks)

Well Im at the cross roads now where I would rather have 8GB of the 800 than 4gb of the 1066, But I would rather have 4gb of the 1066 if I could run them at 1200mhz. I dont know what to do.

Ok I placed my order. I ended up buying the 2X2gb Mushkin ASCENT DDR2 1066. Hopefully I can bump it up to 1200, If not thats ok too. Im sure its good RAM.

Thanks. I have always heard good things about Mushkin but I personally haven't used anything other than the Corsair Xms series. I really hope the ram and my bios will allow me to tweak them to 1200 instead of the 1066.

AMD Overclocker

according to the motherboard manual AND according to ASUS....
__________________"Due to CPU limitation, DDR2 1066Mhz is supported by AM3/AM2+ CPU for one DMM per channel only. For system stability, when four DIMMs are installed, ALL DIMMs will run at DDR2 800Mhz as the default setting. We recommend you install the memory modules in the yellow slots for better overclocking ability. This motherboard does not support DIMMs made up of 256 megabit (Mb) chips or less." ....this is straight from the motherboard manual, page 2-11. I also have the same board and CPU and I chose the Corsair 2x2Gb 1066 Dominator modueles, as they ARE on the QVL list. My first choice was the OCZ 2x2Gb 1200 modules (Blade series), but they seemed to be sold out, just about everywhere. I also contacted Corsair by phone and was informed that have have discontinued their 1200-1250 modules. If you choose to go the 1066 route, I CAN say this....both ASUS and Corsair said to just increase the voltage to 2.1 (for the Corsair modules anyways)....even with everything else on auto in the BIOS the 2.1v is a must. They also recommended setting the timings by hand as well, before you even attempt to do ANY other OCing on the board. NOTE: large CPU coolers like the Ultra 120 or the new Zalman CPNS 10X Extreme (great reviews on the Zalman btw) will prevent you from installing the "tall heatsink" RAM in the yellow slots....and sure enough they were right. However, even though they also recommend the yellow slots for best OCing, I STILL chose the Dominators with the tall heat sinks and just used the black slots. There seem to be NO AM3/AM2+ motherboards, that can even come close to the memory bandwidth on the Intel motherboards running the core i7....so, in other words I choose to worry about the CPU over clock and then simply adjust the RAM timings for w/e "best performance I could get". At the present time, I think this is the wisest choice. Last year I OCed an AMD 5000+ B.E. on an M2N32 SLI Deluxe motherboard the same way, and achieved 3.2Ghz on air only, which has been running stable....24/7.....for about 1.4 years now....with ZERO BSODs....well, at least zero caused by the over clock. Lastly, be aware that the 5000+ had a 65W TDP if I'm not mistaken....the 955 has a 125W TDP.....so make sure that you have a very good CPU cooler and a very good case (lots of cooling). You can see the new parts I chose below....well except for the RAM, which UPS shipping did their very best to destroy. So it'll be 1-2 weeks for the RMA process to get my 2x 2Gb sticks of Corsair 1066Mhz Dominator RAM replaced. When I posted: "Has anyone OCed the 955 on the M4N82 yet.....Angmaar graciously pointed me to this article: http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1565 It was a very good article....and I should probably slide him a Rep point for that, which I forgot to do.....good luck with your OC and know that I'll be doing the same OC myself as soon as my RMA'd RAM arrives. ![]() OH....definitely get the latest BIOS for this board ^^

Can someone help me please? I'm new to this!
I got the ASUS M4N82 Deluxe AM2+ motherboard AMD Phenom II AM3 955 Black Edition OCZ Fatal1ty Series 2GB DDR2 (2 x 1GB) 1066MHz PC2-8500 : OCZ2F10662GK Basically, I just set up all the parts and it all works fine... almost. It seems the PC restarts on its own when it wants. Once blue screened when I was out the room and twice blue screened while on firefox browsing... I caught a message on the blue screen saying (this is just on one of them because it has a different message everytime) "MEMORY_CONTROLLER" So I thought, right it's a RAM issue, maybe I didn't set it up right. SO I went to the BIOS and... I can't find the option to change the RAM timings! I can't even see it in the manual for the mobo. The only setting I could find was to change the mHz from 6xxmhz, 800mhz or 1066mhz. I too had heard the AM3 CPU limits the speed to 800mhz so I changed the setting to this, but I can, NO WHERE, find the setting to make sure my RAM timing is running at "CAS latency - EPP 5-5-5-15" Can someone please help me change/make sure I have these settings right, without "accidently" changing n messing up the CPU settings, as I have no intention to EVER overclock. ...Also I am thinking of buying 2x more of these RAM sticks so I have 4GB or 1 stick in each slot, can someone also confirm I have the right RAM sticks in the first place? This is where I bought them from: http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...productid=7048 Thanks for listening and help in advance |

it sounds to me like something is obviously failing in the ram or cpu, run memtest or switch out parts to figure out whats screwed up if somethings wrong ya better hope its ram, its a lot easier and cheaper to replace... also dont count out graphics, failing graphics can some times cause bsod depending on how it does it... it could be motherboard cpu ram or gpu failing, but from what ya said it sounds like cpu or ram, maybe mobo, just run some tests and do some trouble shooting and youll figure it out
