Yeah! Can I join?

I don't have that reboot-issue kz26 talks about, after BIOS alterations it just reboots and everything is applied, except the CPU multi needs a hard reset to be picked up or it will stay the same it was before the reboot, even when it reboots after a crash.
Pretty funny to see the thing trying to boot when it crashed after I set the multi too high with AMD Overdrive.
Oh and the HTLink multi doesn't work, only accepts 9x or 5x..

I'm a bit worried about the northbridge temps too, it's usually 45-50c and when I play GTA4 it reaches 70c, is that too high? And yes I'm using the onboard video.

I have BIOS version 080015, it was there when I bought it.

Hello Guys.. I have been LURKING this site for several years now...but i want to know some of your opinions so thats why I registered now.

Did you guys try to unlock the 4th core of any of your tri-cores? I am planning to a A7DA MoBo and the new Phenom II x2 processor. I want to try to unlock all the cores. The only thing that probably stops me from buying this is bad reviews(on the new processors and MoBo) so i am now gathering some info on what MoBo to buy.

I do hope that I can OC that thing to 4Ghz.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure virtually all SB750 boards will work for unlocking, e.g. the A7DA series has pretty standard ACC settings. Set that to All Cores and hopefully you'll get it unlocked.

My NB idles around 50C, at load it goes to 55 max. However I have the onboard GPU disabled...I'd say it's pretty normal for the 780G and 790GX chips to run real hot, and considering you have your IGP on that probably accounts for the temp overhead.

Noir, where did you find those bad reviews on the new phenom II x2 ? I have only read good things about it actually.. I'm very interested in a phenom II x2 550, but I'm not sure if it is worth the upgrade.
It should reach 3.9GHz so I guess you could hit 4GHz if you put it on water.
As for your question; ACC didn't unlock any extra cores on my x2 7750, and I haven't heard anyone doing so, so I don't think you should try your luck on a PII x2 to get an x4.

gerikoh; What are your NB settings? I have it running at x12 (=2400MHz) with 1.36 Volts, and I can't post when I set the NB to x13, so I thought 2400GHz is the max.. Do you think it could clock higher with an aftermarket cooler?

by default at 1.3, they still reach 70c. but i have them now at 1.4v and it makes no difference in terms of temps.

Don't think you can unlock the PHII x2's they are real dual cores.

First, Actually I meant to say IF it will have bad reviews....Sorry

Now my Initial reaction

WOW!!!!! Almost all of the review sites(I think around 10)reached 3.9Ghz and some reached 4Ghz!!!!Though they needed 1.5volts to do it.

But the thing here is they reached 3.8(on most review sites) with only 1.4-1.425 Volts which I feel will be the safest core voltage to run 24/7..

Now I just have to sell my Mobo and e7200 to buy this thing

Now which motherboard to pick? Should I go with a 790GX or a 780G? There is quite a price difference between them so I have to know if overclocking the cheap with a different SB will yield quite a different result.

790GX ofcourse! the SB750 should overclock better than the SB700, and the onboard 128mb ram of the HD3300 boasts your 3850 in hybrid crossfire
(the 128mb ram is optional though, check if the board has it before you buy)
