Well, keep in mind that the 4th core on some X3's is indeed a dud -software can't make broken hardware magically work.

Cool New beta bios for A7DA-S

1. htt won't recognize values that is not divisible by 5. ie 201, 212, 223, 234 etc.

2. at ram freq 400 mode, actual value for the tRAS is for the 2nd channel is 2 units below. so if you are aiming for 15, you'll have to set it to 17, otherwise it will be set to 13.

3. the temp sensor issues. cpu temp will only be valid once it reaches above 40c.

4. cpu multi's infos are flawed. like 16x=3200 while 16.5=3200? not a big deal though.

5. tRC's value are not actually just auto, you just have to scroll up and you'll see the numbers there.

6. bios cpu speed is way off the mark once northbridge speed is greater than the hypertransport speed by 1000mhz (i'm really not sure the exact value, but it's somewhere between 700-1000mhz)

7. i dunno if it's my ram, but i can't boot windows everytime my nb speed is greater than 2400mhz.

Right, I have had a similar issue with a few of these problems, so I emailed Foxconn and got a reply asking for more info - however they also supplied me with a new beta BIOS, which I'm attaching to this post. Not tried it yet cos I'm at work, but if anyone wants to give it a whirl and report back, feel free to do so....

Default Phenom overheating

Hi all,

I have a weird Phenom 9950 overheating issue with this mobo. The CPU is fine, I tested it on a number of other mobo and it was ok. CPU cooling is also good, Im pretty sure about it (a Scythe Zipang), also other CPU's I tried on this Foxconn were also working fine.
The problem is that without load CPU temp is about 60, and goes far beyond 75 under load, then hangs. As you can see, the temps quite high. I tried all combinations of setup in BIOS with no success. Sure, no overclocking, I even have to underclock a little.
I also tried to re-assemble the system for several times and with the help of a specialist as well - so no mistakes in assembly.
It's all strange since the mobo and the CPU are working fine separately, but do not work together, so I cannot even use the warranty - the parts were bought in different places.
The components:
Phenom 9950 125 W, Scythe Zipang cooling
Foxconn A7AD-S
4x1Gb Patriot
Hiper 550W PSU,
PowerColor 4870 (also tried it with in-built graphics).

BIOS dated at 08/16/2008, not thelast one, however I didn't find anything related to the problem in the updates description, so won't wish to try my luck updating BIOS if it's not really necessary.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

tester330, you may be experiencing a temp issue there.

tried it. so far the only problem left is the temp sensors.

also, another thing that i've noticed is that ht link will never go beyond x10 multi.

did you have a password protection in your bios?

have you tried to remove your cmos battery, then turn it on, then turn off, turn on and flash it using fox liveupdate?
