Can the GA-MA790GP-UD4H also unlock wit the new bios? I see that it can unlock the 4th core but which bios does it, anyone know?

F4 bios cannot unlock it for sure...im upgrading it now to F5A...i'll post my finding in a half hours or more...


btw...i'm using corsair dominator 4gb and win 7 is flyyyyying...

f4 doesn't work...it has the option but it doesn't work

ok...so i updated the bios to F5 and it works flawlessly and it has 4 cores :yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy:
im so frickin happy ))))

That's insane Vocoder! I wonder what the odds were that you got all 4 cores unlocked. Do you think the odds would have been better with the X3 720 since it only needs 1 core unlocked?

Also, Did you need a windows 98 start-up disc to flash the Bios? If not, do you mind saying what process you used to do it? I think I'm as happy as you are that it worked out for you :lol:

First, download Gigabyte utility called atBios. And download F5 bios for this board (GA-MA790X-UD4P) from their site. Boot into Windows. Unpack the F5 Bios exe file and extract bios on the desktop. Later on start the atBios program and point it to the newly extracted bios on your desktop. And just wait for process to finish. After it's done simply restart your computer and there you go

My M4A79 mobo unlocks the 550 as quad, but picked this mobo up anyways to try it out...
