Default Locked core multiplier, is it just me?

For the set up in my sig. Multiplier has been locked since day 1 and I just forgot about it for awhile, but I was trying to figure it out again tonight and I'm still stumped. I've been looking at pics of bios for other m2r32-mvp's and none have the multiplier locked (mine has both multiplier and processor voltage locked). It's stuck at x12.5 and I was hoping to try raising it since my FSB can't seem to get any higher without becoming unstable.

I have a feeling it's the cpu + mobo combination, especially since on the ASUS website it says the most recent bios which is compatible with phenoms is a beta. Just wondering if there's anyone else out there with a 9850 BE and m2r32-mvp that has locked bios, or if anyone has some ideas.

i think its your chipset holding you back(You have the AMD 580X, it might support the processor but not an unlocked multi)

a 780g or 790gx chipset would be able to overclock that cpu easily or just hang in there for a BIOS update.

I agree with the first part of what he said, because since your mobo is an older chipset I don't think that they will release a BIOS update for it. More than likely are going to focus on their newer chipsets.

Edit: Since you are running the 9850, you should be able to easily overclock it to 3.2 maybe 3.4 on your water cooling setup. I had mine running at 3Ghz stable on air ^_^

This what it says on the CPU support list for that MB.

Phenom X4 9850 (HD9850WCJ4BGH,rev.B3,SocketAM2+,Quad-Core ALL 1105
beta, not support O.C. when using B3 stepping CPU

I got it up to 3.1, but not for long. If I increase the fsb to get above 3ghz (or anywhere close to it) my mem crashes shortly after getting to the desktop. I just bought new sticks too, so I'd like to hope it's not a problem with the ram itself I'm sure I just need to change some settings in bios, but this mobo has such a b****y set up

yeah some mobo's really hate being FSB OC'd (mine being one of them) some boards eat it up like candy.

My M2R32-MVP will do 315 FSB, I think it's a CPU support issue.

Run CPU-z and find out what your stepping is, the listing says it doesnt support OCing with a B3 stepped CPU, and that could just be what your problem is.
