At the post screen (BIOS screen) you have 4 cores. But within the OS you have only 3 cores (with CPU-Z, taskmanager, etc.).

So all tests (prime95, etc.) just test 3 cores and the system is very stable. I will test the 4 cores with 1.44 now

It doesnt want to get stable with 4 cores. I set vcore to maximum 1.5X but prime95 stil crashes win7.

How did you managed to get 1.488 vcore with the 0.125 steps?

Humpf29, in the OS the Vcore may be showing some vdroop. That's the only thing I can think of. The value in the BIOS may actually be displayed differently as well.

Good luck

Dont get too hung up about Prime95 stability, it stresses the CPU's to such an unlikely extent, that in 'real world' day to day performance, using the programs and games you use, you may NEVER have a crash...

Just run it as a 4 core, at say, 3.3 or 3.4Ghz for a week or two and see if you have any problems.

If not, thats the only stability test that matters IMHO.......

I have a great Bug

I can play Prototype or any game for long time.. But when i go into the Menu/Pause and dont play for ~ 20 mins my system crashes

The windows eventlog says sth about kernel power...

Could it be that my PSU is to low? But i dont understand, why the game crashes in menu and not when i am playing..

Humpf29, what is the exact error messaged listed in the Event Viewer?

If you could please fill in your system specifications here. This will be added to your signature rig. At the moment we are a little unclear on what type of hardware you have

Good luck

Humpf29, thank you for adding in your details. Power supply wise you should be fine. I believe the 4850 only requires a total 12volt amperage of 30-32 amps which you pretty much what you have. Your wattage during gaming or Prime95 stress testing probably peaks in the low 200's. If you unlocked your 550BE then it will probably go up 30-50 watts.

Let us know what the Event Viewer says. Maybe this issue is more related to the game then it is to your computer?

Good luck

Humpf29, was this only tested under Windows 7? I noticed you had Windows XP listed in your signature rig as well.

For those that are interested, here is the English translation from the above Event.

Good luck
