Default Asus Crosshair Formula II

I am building a new rig and i have so far the CPU and one Gfx
I was thinking for a mobo for my 940BE...It's Crosshair II any good for that CPU? Good in OC or?

I need an nforce chipset mobo because i am doing a Gts250 SLI!

Thanks!

That mobo seems to be a decent board. You can ask SpaceBallsRules how he likes his mobo. He just got one from ASUS as a replacement for his dead M2N32 SLI Deluxe Wifi. Any way if you are gonna use the x4 940BE in the mobo find out if you have the ability to adjust the NB to CPU multiplier so you can run your cpu and blistering fast stable overclocks. I got a Foxconn Destroyer w/a Nvidia 780a chipset same as the crosshair II and I am not able to adjust my NB to CPU multiplier. I am very interested to know if you can adjust it or not and if it's because of it being an Nvidia chipset.

If I can't adjust the nb to cpu multi on a 780a motherboard i will prbably sell my gfx and i'll buy a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H ! Much better price and OC ability! But i'll hope the crosshair is good! Ty for support

That's good to know guys. At least now I have hope that some day Foxconn will be able to produce a bios w/the NB to CPU multiplier. Yeah right. They keep giving me the hand j0b every time I tell them about it and about not being able to use Cool N quiet.

Thanks,

N2G

I have had my crosshair II formula for almost a year now and I will tell you it is a very decent board. Don't expect any crazy good OC's though. I can only take my 940 to 3.6 stable which isn't bad but this board has some issues with raising the ref clock. On a major positive note it has no problems running 8 GIG's of PC8500 at 1066 with no hitches

I thik it's Your CPU, because with this mobo I starded Windows with my Phenom 920 @ 4.0GHz (must do some benchmarks I hope it will be stable) :P xD My previous mobo didn't let me do that

Yeah it could just be bad luck, combination of mobo & CPU. He may have one of the original mobo versions and you may have a more updated version that allows more or better overclocking. It's really hard to say w/out all the specifics but one thing we all know for sure is any time we plan of overclocking we are praying the OC GOD's smile upon us w/the good luck of the draw.

Happy 4th of July to all our American members.
