Question MSI KA780G or ASUS M3N78pro

Could not find any testing those two mobo together, any passmark/benchmark testing available to compare these or any advices? Read some testings about the ASUS but none for the MSI, normally this implicate that it is not a populair product, wich could be because its not good.

I will do no extreme overclocking, no Xfire/SLI, only performance, bugfree, solid and reliable is counting here for me.
It will be a internet/Email/photoshop/video workhorse, no high performance games, its for my dad computer upgrade.

ASUS got a GF8300 chip and the MSI a AMD780G/700 (Nb/Sb) chipset.
ASUS DDR2-1066 suport only for one DIMM per channel, MSI appears to have no problem here.
Any advice/help here for selecting.

Thanks

I would go for the Asus out of the two just because they are a better company.
Don't know much about the boards though.

I prefere the MSI 780G/700 chipset, but I see only reviews for ASUS, normal this will give you a indication that MSI is not a good Mobo, because its not popular. Only the non support for the DDR2-1066 for one DIMM per channel is a disadvantage here.
MSI appears to have no problem here.

Nah that ASUS board has a horrible design. Look at the placement of the 24 pin power connector. Good luck with the cable management with that board. I do prefer ASUS but not this board. Also if u r planning to drop a top notch proc then try to find a better board than these two. Also MSI boards are not well known for their OCing ability.

One, question, I have noticed that on the ASUS mobo, DDR2-1066 will support only one DIMM per channel. This mobo has the NvidiaGf8300 chip. Looking at similar ASUS mobo but with a AMD 790G/700 mobochip there is no remark on the DDR2-1066 RAM limit. Is this because of the limitation of the Nvidia mobochip??

Its mostly limited by the bios as i have seen from different forums. Many of these issues have been solved by simple bios updates. But i would definitely like to know more. But u do realize that 1066 DDR2 and upwards is only supported by the AM2+/AM3 procs. AM2 only supports upto DDR2 800mhz.
