I don't know the specs of your board but it should have an option to update the bios via a flash drive (most motherboards these days have this feature, just check the manual of your board)

Are you talking about the AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition? Also, which ASUS motherboard are you using? You will need the most recent BIOS update to use it since the 550 just came out end of June, first week of July. I do know that with the M4A79T Deluxe, you have to update to 1303 to use the 550, anything before that won't work.

I know the guys/gals with the Biostar Tpower 790GX 128M can unlock it, but I don't think that unlocking the 550 with this particular motherboard is possible atm. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.

No those bios won't unlock the cores. I need 703 version from what i've read to have the best results. I have 1001 and nothing I do even tries to unlock the cores unless you know something I don't.
EDIt hell you might be right about the this board unlocking it but I won't know untill i try with the 703 bios. The only way I've found is to install xp and use an old asus update v 6.6 from my old a8n-sli to downgrade the bios. I'll wait for the new mobo to come in the mail before i do that.

my cpu was made 0924

Download ASUS Update V7.15.02 from here http://support.asus.com/download/dow...A79-T%20Deluxe install and run the program. Then choose the "option" from the menu and press Next. Mark the "BIOS Downgradable" and press next again. Now choose update BIOS from file and write Your older version of BIOS You have on the HDD.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I believe it has something to do with the steppings of your cpu. I originally thought it was a setting in the BIOS, so my bad . There is a guide in the forums here telling how to unlock Phenom II cores.
