Underthegun,
__________________PCIe 1.0 x 2 is not only x8. On the Asus A8N32 Sli deluxe, one card ran at x16 and two cards in Sli also Ran in x16 instead getting bumped down to x8 like most of the otherboards would only allow. It was one of, if not the only 939 board that supported a full x16 in Sli... But one card going from 1.0 to 2.0 won't make much difference, if any at all. The card can only produce so much bandwidth. x16 can handle WAY more bandwidth than most single card setups can produce. The real difference would be going from Dual cards in Sli at full x16 1.0 to Dual cards in Sli 2.0 or Xfire.

The GTX295 and the HD4870X2 are the only two cards that actually barely pass the bandwidth of PCI-express x16 1.0. For every other card below them it won't even be an issue so no worries.

Wrong, the 4890 and GTX 285 have also been known to exhibit a small decrease in performance when running in PCI-E 1.0 x16 and PCI-E 2.0 x8.

EDIT: Just noticed that your statement doesn't actually make any sense, PCI-E 1.0 x16 = PCI-e 2.0 x8. Therefore, even if there's any variation in performance, the bus bandwidth is not what's contributing to the change.
