Default Defective memory slot?

Hey guys, my new biostar ta790gxe has a defective memory slot, I was wondering if this is a common defect on motherboards or what?

I was about to get really upset, but I finally got it working after not using that slot (number 1 slot)

Installing Windows 7 as we speak!

Its not very common to get a faulty slot, you should RMA the board

How do you know that the Dimm slot is Faulty? You can't boot with it at all? Can you get into the BIOS?

I Think I may have just received the same problem, I have owned my MB (Asus-M4A79-T Deluxe) for almost 6 months with no problems, today I received my new Megahalems and proceeded to install it on my MB. My first boot gave me a no video signal error which means no bios either, trouble shooted my Trifire and tried to boot with each card seperatly...still a no go, Removed one stick of Ram and it booted just fine. I have found that I can only use one stick of Ram in slots 1 or 3, when I install the secound stick I cannot get into bios...each stick boots when used separetly. Anyone ever hear of a problem like this?

Thanks

It won't boot with sticks in slots in both 1 and 3? I have had an issue before with slots 1 and 2.

and for thread, RMA the board. You never want to wait until you need the slot to RMA it cause then it might be to late.

WHy would you put them in slots one and three? That's not dual channel. The slots are numbered as follows:
0,1,2 & 3

Dual channel can be ran with just two sticks, ONLY in the Black slots (0&1) or in the Blue slots (2&3) or in Slots 0&3 at the same time and I believe 1&2 and the same time.

Now if you can't boot with only one stick at a time in every single slot, as long as the module being used works in the other slots, then I would get an RMA on the board.

Good luck!

Or all four dimms at once will yield dual channel.

Sorry I meant slots 3&4...slots 1&2 are for OC or ECC Memory modules
