I bought this board (790x-ud4p) to replace a cheapo gigabyte board i attempted to overclock an athlon II x2 on and it's awesome. im haveing some stability issues running a fsb of over 242 but im pretty sure my psu is limiting me from going any farther, is anybody running anything higher than this stable?

I have the 790xt and so far I've liked it.

Request: Could some people with this board run some HD Tune 2.55 runs? I'm not getting favorable results when I run it right now, and I'm trying to narrow down possible causes.

Thanks!

I've been up to 225 ref. clock, simple because I use the multi too. I'm usually at 220 for 24/7.

I'll do that once I get home (7.2K RPM 500GB 'Cuda).

Also, does anyone know anything about the voltages? From what I understand, the NB VID is NB vCore essentially, and..I forget the others atm (at school), but one is for higher FSb stability and the other fro HT link...

How well does your RAM OC? I've managed up to about DDR3-1466 (maybe a bit more, almost 1500) with 6-6-6-20-26 (maybe 27)-1T timings stable, but no matter how loose I set them, I can't really hit 1600Mhz. Looks like it likes timings > MHz

Hi all. I'm buying the parts to build my first overclock this weekend and I'm hoping to get your opinions. I'm definitely getting the GA-MA790XT-UD4P and a Phenom II X2 550 BE cpu. The rest shakes down like this:

OCZ AMD Black Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
Antec Nine Hundred Two Case
Antec BP550 Plus 550W XFire Ready Modular PSU
ZALMAN 9500A CPU Cooler
[1] WD VelociRaptor 150GB 3.5in SATA 10,000 RPM HDD
[4] WD Caviar Black 500GB 3.5in SATA 7200 RPM HDD (RAID 10)
[2] SAPPHIRE 100256HDMI Radeon HD4670 1GB XFire Video Cards
Pioneer DVD Burner

I already have the dvd burner and the video cards. Even if the cpu won't unlock, I'm sure it'll OC well. I'm not sure if the psu is big enough... Any thoughts, opinions, rants would be appreciated.

(Sorry, no sig or avatar or whatever. This is my first ever forum post, but I'll get up to speed.)

It's an okay board -- unfortunately I couldn't get 3.6ghz totally stable so I'm running 3.5ghz stable now. To get it stable with any overclock I had to overvolt the southbridge and the onboard northbridge, which was really weird but hey it works.

Running 1.525v vcore.

Promised HDD benchies (not exactly optimized, but I wasn't doing anything really HDD intensive at the time):
