Going Broke Overclocking
![]() |
Do the full clearing like slider stated but wait a few hours and if it's a no go, try overnight. That does work for many Asus MBs that are fussy to clear the CMOS/BIOS... BTDT to many times with Asus but it does usually work!
Just make sure you never power up with the CMOS jumper in the clear position as it may wipe the chip clean!!!

There is one trick left but to be honest i only used it once and to my surprise it worked.
__________________For this you need an old psu and old ram leave everything else off the board including the processor. Connect the psu and insert the old ram, take out the cmos battery and start the system up. While it tries to boot short the + and - of the batteryhouse short for just a fraction of a second then pop in the cmos battery. Powerdown and insert the processor, see if it will boot. This is a last resort and i used this on a asus mobo with simular symtoms. Of course this is at your own risk but since you are going to rma the board it's worth the try.

Mr soft, since the CMOS clear wasn't exactly successful try booting the board up with minimal components installed. Check out the previous suggestions as well. El Gappo's guide is helpful.
Another thing that is useful on determining whether or not the board is dead is remove all of the memory and power on the system. If it gives you beep codes then that is a good sign of life ![]() Good luck

I had it stripped down to nothing overnight just to be sure, and tried everything possible again. Plugging in just the very basics.
![]() I tried it all, step by step except for the arcing idea. I had a vision of paddles, and resuscitating it. I think I´m going to give up on it, and send it on a long holiday to France.

Well I don't know anything else to try that hasn't been suggested already, but FF is supposed to be 'successful boot', at least that's what it is on my 750i...
Hope you get it back in working condition

FF is supposed to be the final product in a series of different boot codes. If you turn it on and it goes directly to FF, that means the BIOS chip is botched. This is true for your XFX, as well, for future reference.
