For friggin' ever. The way I remedy it is as such. First, power off your power supply and hold down the power button to drain your computer of any power. After you do this, flip the switch, power on your computer, and immediately hold down the delete key. Your fans will spin up full speed, and your monitor will remain off for a period of time. Sometimes it works that once you are holding the button down for awhile to let go and keep pressing delete. It will come back on. It took me to the point of almost RMA'ing my board before I figured this out. It's going to take some time, but bare with it. I know I said not to do this before, but go ahead and clear your CMOS after you do a hard shutdown of your computer. After this, do the "delete trick". It's frustrating I know. Mine would literally keep powering on and off by itself 100 times in a row.

Is it at least inhibiting the symptoms that I mentioned, i.e. the constant on/off?

First off chew* proved that the G.Skill Ripjaws 1600mhz is really bad for AM3. Now that's out of the way:
Remove every single component. See if it POSTs with CPU and one stick of ram in closest ram slot and one video card.

Which is normal for some reason. This board does not notify you when anything is awry.

As a final step, have you tried removing the battery on your mobo for a few minutes? It's an old trick' of the trade', and sometimes can truly reset your BIOS. It wouldn't hurt to give it a shot, it won't hurt anything.

ok sorry for not being able to reply back as i was in the hospital last night. problems aside, remove cmos battery, switch the JBAT1 jumper to make sure cmos is cleared and unplugg the power supply from the wall or just turn the switch off. leave it for about 10-15 seconds then move the jumper back to start position, replace battery and power on.....as soon as you power on hit the reset button, and when computer turns on hit the delete key to enter bios.
as far as errors go, its the F1 key to post. but do this after trying my above as the F1 key doesnt always work unless u reset after powering on as well.
