Default Socket 462 Motherboard Challenge

Basically my Laptop died recently, so I'm currently saving for a 775 build. While I do this I have an old AMD machine that I want to play with. Unfortunaly my MB doesn't have a Vcore option, so not much fun can be had. So I need an old 'decent' MB for very little money. So if anyone has any free time and would like to help me out choosing one, please have a look at the ebay page below and let me know what you think.

eBay page

Thanks

What socket A CPU do you have? I think the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe and Abit NF7-S are the two best overclocking socket A boards. I had the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe and it was a great board. The only problem might be to find one for a decent price. Since they are the best socket A boards they hold their value very well. I actually made money on my A7N8X-E Deluxe when I sold it in 2007 (I originally bought it from Newegg in 2004).

It's funny how some of the older boards hold their value, there was a dual socket A on eBay the other week going for a fair bit.

The CPUs I have are

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K7/AMD...2000DMT3C.html

and

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K7/AMD...1800DMT3C.html

I think I'll have a go at unlocking one of them also, why not ya' know.

EDIT - It must be able to take DDR SDRAM

Both boards, A7N8X-E Deluxe and NF7-S, are good for 400MHz FSB so unlocking probably won't be needed. Though like you, if you can do it why not and if you don't have DDR400 RAM it will come in handy. I think most socket A boards only take DDR SDRAM so you're good there.

The A7N8X-E Deluxe won't stay as cheap as it is there, I will keep an eye on it though, I suppose I could stretch to 20 quid

Where is the NF7-S?

Ta

Yep, like I said it might be hard to find one for a reasonable price. Maybe you should look for cheaper variants. I only suggested those because they are ones I know of from when I built my first system in 2004. What board are you using now? This is the Abit NF7-S.

Thanks for your help I'm just going to spend the night browsing I think.

The board is something called a Jetway V6FP, can't do much with it, it's pretty frustrating to be honest.

watch out for the NF7-S boards, i bought one for my brother back when he had his 1800+ chip and that board gave me hell everytime i had to do anything on it. i think i had the 1st revision though and they put out like i think 3 different ones. so, maybe i got a lemon and the boards are not that bad. just keep an eye out if you plan on buying a NF7 board.

good luck getting what you need bro.
