Default Could someone enlighten me about the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P.

Ok I am looking to get a GA-MA790FXT-UD5P but I'm not a big fan of the motherboard cooling.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the distance between the mounting holes on the North Bridge cooler ?.

Don't worry about it. The mobo will not need any more cooling that a standard case will suffice.

well I want to do some major Overclocks ,I was wanting to replace the NB and SB with Noctua NC-U6's and the mosfets with Thermalright HR-09 S TYPE1.
But the NB holes look wider apart than normal, so I modded a pressure clip using noctua's Intel hardware and the xigmatech x porter mounting parts to make it reach a lot further.
But the problem is I don't quite know nor can i find measurements, so I can make sure it will fit.

Oh yeah cheers guys

Waste of time just pop off heatsinks that come with board and re apply tim. Use ceramic based thermalpaste. Any cooling on NB or SB is eye candy.

when I get it I'll give it a go, what are your NB temps like ?.
At the moment I am using GA-MA790X-DS4 and I replaced the NB stock cooler to a Noctua NC-U6 and it dropped temps from 80 ish degrees to a mere 30 degrees and it let me get the NB 278 Mhz stable.
So could I expect temps as low as that with the stock cooling on the UD5P ?.

Except on a 680i/780i But that's just sad (and another story).

But yes, I agree. The OP should be fine, even with some pretty hefty overclocks, the stock cooling should more than suffice. Reapplying the TIM is definitely not a bad idea though.

7.5cm distance between mounting holes and 5cm between mounting holes

I only just got the board, but havn't used it yet...waiting on the Phenom 955 to arrive.

I love the Clear CMOS button, PWR and Reset buttons onboard...they're awesome.

Yay an Aussie me too, pleased to meet you. I havn't bought one yet but this is on my short list.
I was looking at a crosshair III but since I already have a Gigabyte I may as well keep the legacy going... lol.
Thank you so much for this,it makes my life so much easier.
It looks as though my home made NB cooler clip will work, cheers. I also fell in love with the layout and the buttons as you mentioned.

Hehe, yeah the aussies are taking over, and I see we're both Victorians

I was too looking at the Crosshair III but they're a bit expensive in my opinion, I picked up the Gigabyte for $199, was a bargain!
