Default Sata shutting down

Hi,

I bought alst month a Asus a8v-deluxe board, wich should be a good overclocking board.
i read many reviews about it and all people get high results with it.
i want to overclock my AMD Athlon 64 3500+ ( venice ) but i cant get higher then 2.4 Ghz.
when i go further the system runs well, but my s-ata device shuts down and doesnt work anymore.
the device is still detected in windows but i need to active the hdd, wich will cause a system crash.

Anyone have the same problem or knows a solution about this?

i got 2x 512mb kingston pc 3200.

greets

Welcome to the Forum.

It will help to fill out your profile and system configuration so that we can see what else is within your system ... go to User CP for this.

SATA controller will be off the PCI bus and it is this that must be locked down to 33Mhz, check the BIOS for such a setting and also make sure that the AGP bus is fixed to 66Mhz - these will help stability of your HDDs

Sometimes, when OCing you get to the point where you have to reset the BIOS ... there is a jumper on the MB for this and it will default back so you can start again.

Also consider flashing the BIOS to a current version - 1014 or 1015.

BTW .. please use the Edit button to up date yout post if no one else has posted ... makes it easer to read.

With regards to the BIOS version, those ones listed were for the A8N Deluxe, prob. not suitable for your MB.

We need someone more familiar with the AGP Bus.. I know that this topic has been discussed here before - have a search through the forum here to find similar MBs and options.

its a decent board, be sure to keep that locked at 66.66/33.33, try to avoid leaving things in auto with this board that you can set to manual whenever possible,

also try to use the black sata connectors over the red ones if you can, ive had this board for over a year (i think) and i have used 3 cpus in it from a 3500+newcastle @ 2.55ghz, opti148 @3.0, and now a opti 170@2.6, the board seems to be able to handle everything up to about 288 fsb (well atleast mine does)

post if you have any more questions
