All I did was boot the the thing up after my W7 install and apply all the settings. Then I installed speedfan to see what my temps were and saw 141, which jumped to 142 before I could shut down the thing. It damaged itself really.

OMG 142 degrees Celsius = 287.6 degrees Fahrenheit that litterally makes me cringe ...

Gotcha. This is definitely a manufacturing defect though. I'm confused as to why they're being so difficult. It sounds pretty obvious to me.

The 'technician' seems to be intent on making me prove it isnt the CPU overheating, and at one point he even had the nerve to tell me I should buy a different CPU that draws less current and see what it does. ?!?!

Speedfan sucks at naming temperatures, and the computer would most likely shut down if the northbridge was over 100C, or at least cause some sort of damage that hot. Try Everest or if ECS has a utility (which I doubt.)

Times like these where you would pay any amount of money to be able to slap someone through a phone or email. Nothing violent just a nice backhanded tap to relay your discontent with them.

AMD overdrive read the same temps. After I power on the board for over a minute or so, it wont POST for the next few hours.

Asus
This is no time for jokes! He needs to fix his board. Anyway, I would probably just replace the TIM myself but then they might not RMA it. I guess try to explain the CPU is at stock and this is a problem on the northbridge, not related to CPU.

that sucks. ECS mobos with intel chipsets are pretty good. The other ones, nah.
If you live like 20 mins away from ECS like me, you could throw the in their face or get it "fixed". Looks like they are unwilling to help you get a RMA. ![]() Can you escalate the situation to another tier level?
