Try lowering the temps with new TIM, a fan, compressed air, etc, and see if the temps lower appropriately in Windows, also check if it affects the POST thing.

Dude Get an Asus.

Well, when they work, they are actually decent boards, and I've had good experiences with them before ( HTPC and my old gaming rig) so I figured this would be the same.
And now, if possible, I would much rather get an ASUS M4A79T deluxe, but I'm kinda stuck with this ECS thing.

Does the overheating lead to any technical problems? Like the board not working? Because if not then they likely will not issue an RMA. As long as the board works they will say it is in "normal operating temperatures".

So you are either out of luck or you'll have to be creative about getting it processed. I won't mention what that means on this forum.

Anyway, I would probably just replace the TIM myself but then they might not RMA it. I guess try to explain the CPU is at stock and this is a problem on the northbridge, not related to CPU.
Says the guy with a MSI board.

OP if you got it from Newegg call them and see if they can get you a RMA.

It causes it to not POST after rebooting.

I have a chipset watercooling block, but really I would much rather get the board replaced before I install it because I know the second I touch the NB heatsink, its going to be impossible to get it RMA'd.

Oh jeez, both of you chill. Everyone has had equal problems from about every mobo manufacturer these days.

It might be worth replacing the TIM, and reseating the heatsink instead of going through the hassle of a RMA.

OK, after 4 more exchanges, I finally got an RMA number issued. I will ship it out tomorrow and see how this goes. I have a good feeling its gonna take a loooong time.
