Default ECS RMA nightmare......

sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I purchased an ECS A790GXM-AD3 board several months ago and it had a problem with the NB overheating to extreme temps. It had already been 30 days since I bought it, so I contact ECS to get an RMA issued. Simple, right? Wrong. ECS cannot just give me an RMA, they have to open a 'case' to investigate the motherboard, except their technicians are not even close to knowledgeable (OK, borderline retarded), and they have yet to issue an RMA, they seem to be stuck on this idea that my CPU is operating at 124C even though i gave them the individual temps for each core. So, does anybody have any idea how I can get a refund/replacement for this? I sent the initial email on 8/31 so it definitely has been a long time.

/rant

thanks.

Replace the stock TIM yourself or add a fan or something? If it is solely a temperature problem, there is no need for RMA. I've never dealt with ECS RMA, but hopefully things pick up for you. Just remember, be very courteous even if they are dumb. Be polite and don't make them mad, explain everything clearly and maybe you will get help.

I don't really know how to help you, but I believe ECS went retarded after buying PC Chips, that company's boards ALWAYS failed and they had physically non-existent support.

ECS isn't exactly known for being a top-tier company. TBH, even the top-tier mobo manufacturers all kinda suck @ customer support in that regard. Asus and eVGA are supposed to be pretty bad. Gigabyte just takes awhile AFAIK.

What were your NB temps? They're known to get hot in the first place.

Hold up... Where did they get 124°C? That's ridiculous.

well the NB is actually damaged now, and it got up to 142C at one point when the system was on for ten minutes, idling. I dont even want to know what would happen if I ran stability tests or something.

Wow, now I cannot grab that ECS and Sempron anymore, not with this kind of service.

From what I'm reading it sounds like it was a manufacturing defect/engineering oversight. In otherwords they left an under-powered passive cooler and/or forgot TIM, etc. I could be wrong tho...
