Default 790FX or 790GX which better for 955

I am building a pc for a friend and I am oscillating between these two boards for a 955. Which one would be better for all around gaming and upgrade ability.

It depends if you want CrossFire in the future.

The 790FX does 16x16x CrossFire, and the 790GX only does 8x8x. The 790FX also offers some more features (more USB, better chipset cooling) but it costs quite a bit more.

If you don't need the extra features or CrossFire, then get the 790GX. If you want the extra features, get the 790FX.

Honestly, the only difference is onboard video on the GX and 32 pcie lanes on the FX and 16 on the GX. Both chipsets overclock just about the same while the GX will be cheaper. Since it's just a single graphics card, the amount of pcie lanes will be moot.

Yup, but the GX has onboard, which is really only good for back up if a card goes bad or you give the board to someone later on who doesn't need a dedicated video card.

Thats what I thought. I use the 790FX-UD5P with a 940 and it has done nicely so far. My mane concern is will it handle the Bulldozer when released. I dont mind paying a little more if it is a great board and can handle future chips. I also like the 16x16. Thanks. And for me, on board video is just a waste of space. Rather would have better cooling.
