I won it in the Freebie thread. It came with the 775 and 1366 brackets, and a lapping job. Can it be done? Based off the look of the bracket on my motherboard (in sig rig) it looks like it can only be mounted horizontally. I'm looking to get this and then get some thermal paste as well. I need a recommendation for someone's who never mounted an aftermarket heat sink. AS5 for ease, or something with better performance? And should the fan be blowing air onto it, or away from it?

I mounted my TRUE in such a way for a small amount of time.
For thermal paste, MX-3 or OCZ Freeze is your best bet, they're usually a few degrees better than AS5. The fan should be blowing air through the heatsink. That's what gave me the best temps.

For thermal paste, OCZ Freeze is great, and in my experience IC7 Diamond gives the best results. I keep AS5 as my emergency backup, but I use my IC7 and OCZ Freeze if I can.

So can it be done with the the bracket I linked to? And how is MX3 for being able to spread. My friend was complaining about one of the thermal pastes being very hard to spread.

No, it can't be done with that bracket.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835708047 You use the LGA775 mounting bracket. You can the screws from Enzotech for a dollar a piece. So you can hold it in place or just get some from the hardware store. As for TIM I would go for OCZ Freeze. Edit: sLowEnd I totally forgot about that.
