Default mATX board for more than 272 HTT.

so here is the max base clock i can get on any cpu on this board.

ive had a 720BE, 940BE, and now i have this Athlon II 240, all of which hit the same baseclock max.

CPUz VALIDATION

what i am looking for is something more around the 300mhz base clock region.

( with which i will easily be able to run my memory at 1200mhz. )

You want this board.

Also, don't just assume your memory is going to work at 1200mhz. Remember AMD processors have an integrated memory controller, and a weak one at that.

Also drop your HT Link speed to as close as 2000mhz as you can. Drop your NB multi too. The higher you run these the more unstable it is, and HT Link actually may decrease performance past around 2200mhz.

my memory does work at 1200mhz. my NB multi is untouchable ( even with AMD Overdrive ), and HT multi makes ABSOLUTLELY no difference as far as stability goes. i am rock solid at 3808mhz*, however 273*14 is a nogo. a few other reasons i am interested in a new board arise.

If you're running your NB frequency at 2720mhz, that is really high and helping to limit your HTT clock. So yea ditch that Asus board if you can't even adjust multis lol.

That DFI board is where you want to be. I don't think you're going to find a better DDR2 board. They are monsters when it comes to overclocking and you could probably easily get 300+ HTT with tweaking. You'll get to tweak every single setting to your liking in the bios, even drive strengths.

Oh, and could you not be able to adjust the multi because it's not a black edition? I know you can't up the NB multi, but you should be able to decrease it

I know the board is awesome, i have built a machine using it, as well as its DDR3 brotheren.

i would really like more options though, as i know i will neverevereverever use crossfire, it just isnt cost effective when i game mainly at 800x600.

okay sorry for the double post, but i feel it imperative that i get more input on a new board.

recent bios 2101 allows for control of the NB clock. although it only allows me 3mhz more on the base FSB ( for 275mhz ) at the lowest NB/HTT multi's of 4x-8x, 9x nets me 2 more mhz, and 10x allows me to now reach 273mhz.

new max FSB is 275mhz
