This is crazy, I've got this board and this heat sink. Both of these are supposed to be AM3 compatible,
but the included bracket will not fit this Gigabyte board. The holes are just spaced too far apart. Has anyone used these two together?

Am2+ and am3 socket mounting brackets are the same. I see you have intel you do know that all you do is put the latch on the cpu cooler (should be slots) then just line 2 sides up with the extended clips the pull the lever.

The CPU is mounted fine. My problem is that the heatsink that I am trying to install (which is supposed to fit an AM2/AM3 socket) won't fit this board.

WOW... ok well most heat sinks are like that for amd (took a better look). So you removed the plastic and tried to screw it in those holes? If that doesn't work maybe there is an adapter.
