Default I'm Cheap & Need Help - MSI 790XT-G45

Since Intel is content on making people take it up the pooper in exchange for a decent setup I have decided to switch camps but am trying to do it on the cheap. Providing for my family takes precidence over my e-peen.

In an attempt to save money I decided to see what is out there that will use my existing DDR2 memory. Lo and behold I stumbled upon a pretty basic looking one from MSI, 790XT-G45 for just over $113 if they ever get shipped to the retailer.

The only site that mentions it is in Russian but Internet Explorer seems to have trouble opening it and I'm stuck at work without Firefox.

Does anybody have any info on this board? Reviews? Previews? Other things that end in ews?

What I'm looking at currently is:

Asus M4A79XTD EVO (if the MSI board mentioned is not any good)
Phenom II X2 550? Athlon II X4 620? Completely undecided on a CPU but those are likely candidates.
G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3-1600 CL8 (if the MSI board mentioned is not any good)
Asus 5770 if I go DDR3 or Asus 5850 if I stick with DDR2. I may even go with a 5830 if one is launched.

I will keep my PSU, case and hard drives although I may add another 80GB Barracude for a RAID if SSD prices don't drop and drop my ancient 40GB IDE as well as pick up a SATA DVD burner.

Thos G.Skill RipJaws are not good for AM3 setups as they do not clock well.

I would also hold off on the CPU purchase just a bit longer. As new C3 Phenom II's are comming out tomorrow, and may hit retailers in a few days so you can look through and get you a newer one as they clock higher with the CPU, NB Frequency, and RAM.

These OCZ Sticks would be better.

I would also pick up the Gigabyte 790XT-UD4P or if you really need to budget yourself, the Gigabyte 770T-UD3P

Thanks for the info.

I meant to put in the reason why I do not want a Gigabyte board is the horrible placement of the front panel audio connector, which I use every day. I would have to run the cable directly across the board.

Also I would like to stick with DDR2 if I could. Using my current sticks would mean I could get a beefier video card.

Nice sammich by the way. Now I'm hungry.

It's a much better board as far as overclocking options and build quality though.

Yeah, I really wish I could go with Gigabyte. I'd be game if you could find an audio cable extension. So far all that I have seen are big, bulky ones that would clutter up the works.
