well, i recently got a new cpu for my build that i almost fried, (ocn members came to the conclusion that i had fried something. i thought it was my cpu)and i plugged everything in and turned it on, it stays on for a sec then cuts off, nothing shows on the screen. when i unplug my 12v power from the motherboard, it stays on, but no boot. i need urgent help. thanks

Is the motherboard toast?

Clear the CMOS. If that doesn't work try a different PSU. And if that doesn't work I'd assume you have a bricked board.

how do i clear the cmos?? sorry im a noob when it comes to motherboards :/

Turn off your computer and unplug. Find the button battery on the mobo (on my board, it is under the GPU, which is a PITA, but yours may vary). Remove the battery, but don't damage the socket its in. I know some people have attacked it with a screw-driver before and trashed the socket, lol. Wait 20s-1 minute and put back in. Then plug in and reboot.

Do this. Or if you have a jumper, move it to the other pins for a minute or two and then put it back. Assuming x represents the jumper, if it looks like xxo then move it to oxx for a minute or two then move it back.
