Question M3A79-T Deluxe or M4A79?

I'm looking to upgrade my mobo for Christmas and iv narrowed it down to eithere these two boards as they are about the same price and both support AM2+ (i'm running on an Athlonx2 7750).

From what i'v read some people are saying that the M4A79 won't support AM2+ which doesn't make sense as it clearley states that it does.

Also there was a debate about which boards support, or will support, DDR2 and DDR3.

I'm leaning more towards the M3A79-T Deluxe at the moment because I'm using an AM2+ socket and I don't see the point in getting an AM3 board when I don't even have a processor to fit it

You could buy an AM3 board for future proofing cause later you wil have money and just buy a processor cause the board already support it. Think in a long term

Yeah but i'm looking to sell this rig after iv got it the way i like it, then im going to build an Intel system.

The socket type isn't really what's got my interest, its the DDR2/3 scenario. Im currently using DDR2, but would love to move to DDR3.

I haven't got enough to get a new mobo AND new ram so I was thinking that if the M4A79 is compatible with both DDR2 and DDR3 I could just use the RAM I have at the moment and then upgrade to DDR3 when I can. But i'm still not sure whether that's possible or not :/

the M4A79 is only DDR2 the M4A79T is DDR3 other then that there the same... basicly if u want DDR3 support and can afford ddr3 mem get the m4a79t other then that the m4a79 is preety rock solid in my oppinion allthough has become costly over the past few months here in the uk

and the the M4a79 definetly supports AM2+ and AM3 just no ddr3

i dont realy see a difference between the m3a and the m4a other then a different layout and i think a different power phase like 8+2 or something :S

i would go for the m3a cos AM3 proccessor will go into that board unless theres something i have completly missed, also a AM3 Only board will be useless to u unless u get a AM3 proccessor... so.... to narrow things down

if u want to have an AM3 proccessor in the future without DDR3 get the M4a79
if u dont want AM3 Prccoessors get the M3a
if u want to future proof get the AM3 board with DDR3

your in the same boat as me m8... im just going to save up so i can get the whole package, Good luck
