Sorry this might be a double post but trying to figure this out so thought I could put it in its own thread.
__________________AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor 2495 MHz clock speed radeon hd 4850 x2 2 gig kingston khx8500d2k2/2gn ... in use but bios set at only 600mhz 2g corsair xms 2 cm2x1024-6400 .... cannot use gets wonky First started by buying 4 sticks of the kingston 1066 and putting them in....almost melted my cpu. The heat coming off those copper coated pipes went through the roof and quickly. Also failed to boot. It seems that whenever I choose to put the memory in the 2nd dimm channels the amd wants to kill itself. Read the manual and saw that i should have done some homework. So i traded a friend the 1066 for the 800mhz corsairs and thought would work. Nope, computer starts and just blank screen and sounds like my video card keeps rebooting (no idea *** is happening here). So i take them out and change to setting on the kingstons to 1066 in bios...computer tries to start up and then says i have to reset bios to defualt or the computer wont boot. Im at a loss to the problem. the friend that i got the memory off of had them in the asus motherboard one step below this one and had no problems adding my 1066 to his. Im at a total loss here. Any Ideas?

what t do is clear the bios via the juipers on mobo. im thinking the voltage is set too hi or not nominally. then when its defaulted u can reset volt limits

I actually flashed my bios after initial post and then reset voltage of the kingstons to 2.2 as it instructed in the manual and set the mhz to 1066. Then after this I tried to see if the B DIMM slots were bad and I got it to boot up with the 2 kingstons in A Dimm slot 1 and 2 and got one of the corsairs to work in B dimm slot 2. Then I reset and got it to work with all 4 slots for a total of 4 gigs of ram (2x 1066 and 2x 800). Now after I got back to let it sit for awhile its back to me only able to boot off the two kinston bars of memory. I can never understand how computers can do one thing one time and then another the next...blows my mind.
__________________The problem that I get when i put the slot b sticks is that there is no boot up. I cant even get into bios to try different settings....and I have no idea why it worked for a minute and now is broken again. -could the voltage be too low still at 2.2v? the recommended voltage on the corsairs is 1.8v but others in the forums say 2.1 is stable and safe let me know if anyone has a clue to what this could be.... btw there are no recommended timing settings on the kingstons but there is one for the corsairs but I cant get to see them in bios since there is only a blank screen on setup with a frozen keyboard.

okay did another experiment. put both 1066's in the b channel and then the 800's in the a so it was 1066 800 1066 800. This worked for a bit then the computer went to standyby and wouldnt come out. restart would not work as well and had to replace the 1066's into both a dimm 1 and 2 and take the 800mhz ones out. any imput would be appreciated. I just dont get is since both of these sticks are rated fine for the system and i already replaced the motherboard once thinking it was the problem.

The voltage is ok for the Kingston sticks, but not for the Corsair sticks. And using 4 slots is a problem with some boards, especially when using mixed memory. If you put all sticks in, run memtest. If memtest puts out errors it means the settings for the ram are not good. Maybe you could manually set the timings to 5-5-5-15, 800mhz and keep the voltage at 2.1v and not higher.

I will try that out. Im just having a hard time rapping my mind around the working then not working part. I have tried every configuration of mem on this board (spacing of the sticks) and it will work in random positions...after the computer goes to sleep this configuration does not work anymore. This includes restart and also letting the computer sit for a bit. i have to then physically change the sticks around until i get another configuration to work. The only configuration that works everytime is 1066 1066 nothing nothing.

also the only thing i cut corners on is the Xion PowerReal 1000-Watt ..... could this not be giving my mem a boot? is it possible that it could only mess up sometimes?

tried to do memtest but i cant get a stick config right now that will let me boot up with more then 2 sticks. all i get is massive fan rpm changes on my graphics card and no bios even popping up..just black screen.

the only thing that im saying on the powersupply is that
__________________-is it possible that the video card is drawing too much power on initial bootup and taking juice from the ram sticks which in turn makes it unbootable. this may be a retarded question but it came to me in my sleep -i would still love it if anyone could tell me why almost every mem stick config works...sometimes...but after a failure the config has to be changed(order of the mem sticks)

well i may be talking to myself here but had a IT friend come here and I at least finally got a bluescreen of death. if anyone is out there let me know if this correlates to anything i wrote above.
