AMD Overclocker

Out of nowhere my rock solid overclock of 3.6 @ 1.37 became unstable, so I decided to throw some cooling on the mosfets. It was really late and I was really irritated and for some reason I had some 3M VHB foam tape sitting on my desk. I cut out a little rectangle and slapped on a cooler from an old Intel board. It says it can withstand temps up to 90c, but i didn't even bother to read that it doesn't conduct heat.
at all. now it's stuck. I'm worried that it will act like an insulator and overheat them even more. Do you think i'll be ok? So far my OC is once again stabilized, so I guess all is not lost for now, I'm just worried about long term.

Well that would help once I got it off, I'm just worried I might rip off the VRMs in the process. If I don't have to take it off, then I won't.

If it doesn't conduct heat, it's insulating

If you're worried about it, heat it up slightly with a hair drier before trying to pull it off.
That's what you should do with RAM heatspreaders too, otherwise you run the risk off pulling the memory chip off.

I was gonna try running Small FFTs for a few minutes and gently trying to pry it. Hoping this will warm up the glue a tad.

If there is room in your case, you can also use a boxcutter razorblade to gently slide under the adhesive.

Heat works really well for removing adhesive. use a hair dryer. I had to remove my old back plate from my mobo that belonged to my Coolit Domino and nothing worked. Till I use some heat. Wile using the hair dryer use a credit card and use that to remove the tape. Just place the card in between the two thing that you want to become separated.
