My bios hangs if I have a certain MP3 player(RCA Opal) plug into the USB port while restarting.

USB storage drive (turned off), wireless mouse/keyboard receiver hub (active), digital camera cable (camera not plugged in), cell phone cable (phone not plugged in), and printer cable (printer turned off). I wonder if my wireless keyboard/mouse receiver might be causing the flaky reboots... or if my keyboard needs new batteries. Just replaced the ones in my mouse 'cause they died.

Check your boot order. set your pc to check your OS drive first to boot. It may not sound like it will fix it but that often works.

perhaps a firmware bug in the raid controller? I occasionally have issues like that (not every reboot, only some) but I know it was caused by my overclock but I just live with it and curse it whenever I leave my room for a reboot.

So I disabled the motherboard logo from showing at BIOS -- to show the normal diagnostic screen. Evidently, it's hanging on "Auto-detecting PRI Master..."
So a quick google of that shows it to be hdd-related. Auto-detecting PRImary Master drive. If anyone can let me know why it's possibly getting stuck on this, or a possible cause, let me know. Did a thorough error scan on my RAID 0 array though, no bad sectors or anything. Hmm
