Hi
my mobo supports a 333fsb only, but i can have 2 banks of PC3200 and 4 banks of PC2700 Would i get more performance if i left my ram at PC2700 333mhz rather than goto PC3200 400mhz? I have no AGP/PCI lock on me mobo. I have a Model 10 Barton 333mhz. Any ideas????

Going for a PC3200 RAM should give you more headroom to overclock.
__________________If you don't intend to overclock then PC2700 is just fine as it matches your mobo's FSB: 166MHz.

DDR400 RAM running at DDR333 will offer you a greater chance to get the timmings down tighter than DDR33 running at it's max fsb.
__________________For XP's they thrive on high fsb with tight timmings. So for max perfromance I would say use the DDR400 modules clocked down to the CPU fsb ie: on a 1:1 ratio with tight timmings, how tight will depend on the quality. cheers edit: An upgrade to a nf2 based motherboard would see the performance increase dramatically.

Definitely get PC3200. Allows for better overclock, if you upgrade in the fuiftre no loss in performance and it is same proce. What you should do is run a divider so your mem runs at 83% of the FSb and maybe set FSB to 200. Or have them asynchrous. I have my corsair value select ram down form 2.5-3-3-8 to 2-2-2-3 stable. Get PC3200 definitely.

You are already running at 2.6GHz on this processor? With no locks you must mean 2600+. You could move from 333 to 400 but I would try the settings of your dram at 400MHz just to see if it will take the move.
__________________If you wish tighter ram timings then quality dram is the way to go but otherwise you will not get a great benefit from running the dram higher than the cpu fsb. There will be benefit, just not great and the benefit will mostly be from error correction and not data stream. If I was in your shoes, I would make changes to the video card before I made changes to anything else. Rather than make a motherboard change I would save money and move to A64 and a new board, not an old board technology. If you were to trade your dram for PC 3200 DDR 400MHz dram then why not? But you will not find much a difference in the move. R
