I find Frontpage to be easier for a total newbie than Dreamweaver is, but Dreamweaver is much more powerful once you gain experiance.

Peachpit Press' Visual QuickStart Guides series is a great book to learn from, I've used them for both PHP and CSS and it's very easy to pick up out of them.

Get some glasses, and you might have better web-sight.

I recommend Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express, it's free and has drag-and-drop html editing. Not to mention it is extremely powerful if you ever get into .net programming.

Generally, Go with Visual Studio or Web Developer Express for html if you plan on getting into .NET. Or go with DreamWeaver if you plan on going into php. Both are great html editors.
