Default CPU Benchmarking Program

Open Benchmark is an open source (free) CPU benchmarking program. (All the benchmarks are run in php.)

Consider this a beta software. Version 0.2.2 has a score validation website, temporarily hosted on my slow server. I might like to work something out with the OCN admins regarding this website and this software...

Download
Latest version is 0.2.2. Older versions are there for archival purposes!!

Interesting! I will take a look at it once I get home.

This benchmark, what exact tests does it go through?

There are 5 tests:
1. Base64 Encoding of a ~ 3mb photo file.
2. Base64 Decoding of a ~3mb photo file.
3. Pi calculating to 2.5k digits.
4. Sha1 (with md5 and crc32) encoding.
5. Multiplication stuff.

The benchmark is supposed to be quick. To give you an idea, it should take less than a minute.

It slows the benchmarking program down by a lot... but then again, that can be a good thing. Perhaps I'll have a switch for users to choose whether or not to show what's happening.

Pros: I loaded up Bioshock and maxed out the settings, but this graphics slit the game's throat then ate it's entrails for dessert. It slammed Assassin's Creed's head onto the curb then stomped its head into that curb until it was nothing but a bloody pulp. This card is one bad mo-fo. It'll backhand your sister and degrade your mom, but they will still love it and want to date it because it is just that good. I love this card so much that I burned my tongue trying to french kiss it, and I still keep trying.

No. But remember Windows does some core distribution.

It's strange that I get a score of 10,000. :/ Of course, you get higher scores when you have programs doing stuff in the background (like copying files, etc.)

I ran this on a 800MHz P3 and it got ~57000.

Edit: I think the Base64 Decoding is throwing the results off. How does my laptop (second attached picture) get such a good Base64 Decoding score when it's a 2800+ Athlon-XP-M? All the other test results look fine. I think I'll drop Base64 Decoding then, or leave an option for it.
