Default Who here can code, and wats to put their skills to use?

Ok, in my opinion, RTS games are the second most fun kind their are. (FPS = WIN) The problem is, that all the new ones SUCK!

I have a proposal's, me and some volunteers make the greatest RTS game of all time. So who would be willing, to program a very simple RTS game engine? I know how to make 3D models, and I have lots of sweet ideas! I can't do it alone!

Think about it, what do you have to lose? It might be fun!

Anyone in?

Have you ever done any software development? It is a looooooooot a work. It requires good manager(s) or a group of seasoned skilled programmers.

very simple RTS game engine = "SUCK!"

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

I'm not sure how to go about this, but you could go online and find some Open Source project that is looking for some help...

This way you will find the people who are skilled and willing to put together a project like this.

I know there are a lot of open source games out there... Look for a team that is looking for some input/modeling help...

Although i have programming experience and would love to help.... Game coding is different and to do this you really do need professional game developers and a large team of them...

In the real game industry it takes a large team of highly qualified game developers months or even years to do this....

isn't there a couple source based RTSs?

Not a huge RTS fan, however i can agree tehy are good games(oximoron, i kno ).

Perhaps the new C&C engine? or is it not open sourced yet?

personally I think Space-combat sims are teh best, tied with/slightly better than FPS followed by RTS. RPGs take last

You can't just say "I am going to make a game, lets do it guys" Do you have any idea of the logic behind it, the thousands / millions of lines of coding, all the 3D modelling, linking the code to the models, setting game logic paths in the engine....

Even professionals take months if not years... And they get paid lots of money

If i were you man, i would forget it and just wait.... You have no chance in hell of competing with current RTS games or even 5 year old RTS games.... The funding, expertise and time required is insane....
