My friend made a program that operated like a RPG. (cmd prompt of course)
You could have up to 4 members in your party. With a choice of three character types. Each one would get it's own weapon and attacks. You would face encounters with up to 10 different enemy types. There were about 20 items you could buy and use during combat. It was pretty neat. (the characters did not level however)

Make a card game or a game of battleship where you can play against the computer.

Well, in my C class we are making a minesweeper game, from the command prompt rather than a window or something. It doesn't look too pretty but it's still minesweeper! I don't know how advanced you are, that might not be hard enough for a final project.

If you know recursion you can throw down some sweet Sudoku action. That is what I had to do for my final C++ project in Vis Studio.

In my AI class we did a minesweeper game too, but then we also wrote a program that would play the minsweeper and raced them - it was pretty fun.
Did it in Lisp ![]()

Completely depends on your current level of knowledge. For example, for my final in data structures I did a vending machine. If you know anything about queues, a row of items in a vending machine is a perfect example of a queue. Got an A.
But if you're on your 3rd year, you may want something more advanced. Is your class focused on game development, or simply computer science?
