Enroll in computer science program. If your really interested in programming that is the route to go. Or go to the local college and buy the text book that they are using in there C++ programming classes and have at it. These books are not cheap probably >$100.00. You should also be able to find some tutorial DVDs using google.

it's also some of the best reference material out there ![]() as for the OP, what is it that you would like to do with C++? How far have you gone thus far? Definitely try to learn the basic tools at your disposal before getting into any 'real' applications, as knowing what to use helps the process greatly imo. Do your arrays, stacks, and ::shudders:: pointers.. good luck!

That should provide you with everything you need to start. If you want to use other libraries like MFC, DirectX, or OpenGL later on, you can probably search google for something but you'd be better off buying a book on whatever topic you need. Windows programming in C++ is so in-depth on its own you could devote a whole semester in college just to that.

Personally I remember way back in the day (during high school) I was trying to learn C++ off the net, and while I think it is really good for doing basic stuff I think the internet kinda starts getting kinda crappy when you hit about the "build your own functions/classes" point of programming and I think at that point it is better to just buy a good book.

it all depends on your learning style. I use dreamincode.net to ask for help on any programming stuff. Generally there are 3 ways to learn code:
__________________1. Read internet guides and articles 2. Read a book ( I recommend 'Thinking in C++') 3. Attend a class. Some ways are more effective for people than others. It all depends on your learning style. ultimately, I believe the best way people learn is by doing projects and actually utilizing the code they learn.

Everything I have learned about programming was from internet or buying books, 100% self tought. I started when I was 16, now 21 I am no expert but picked up C++, Visual Basic .NET, Visual C# .NET, HTML, breifly PHP, ohh and QBASIC in 9th grade. Out of all of it I like C++ the most and is what I really started out with. My biggest piece of advise, DON'T GIVE UP!!! I almost gave up several times and now glad I didn't
