Hey guys, I feel like coding tonight!!!
__________________Hit me up with some ideas of applications that you and fellow enthusiasts would find useful. I got these sick new energy drinks and since I worked 16-hour days this week (at a research lab) I don't have work tomorrow! Waiting for some good ideas, Indian_Engineer (in the US so don't feel bad about outsourcing freeware development)

Make a simple system information "sysInfo" win32 program. Also release the source code if you would. You could also include fan temp readings and controls.

sure, hasn't this been done already though? I'll still do it if there are no other ideas and if nothing else I'm sure myself as well as others could learn something from it!

I'm not sure if anyone has done it here, but if they have, they surely didn't release the source code.

so what system info would you like it to display? I get to learn some windows API yay! unless I do Ring 0 access *but I'm not going to take that riskier, slightly more accurate route*

It can be done in 5 minutes with .Net. (Additionally DoubleMark will conquer this next build. But thats a ways away.)

thats what I expected, since .NET interfaces with WinAPI very well...

I know, It should be a fairly simply program to code even in c++. Display any CPU INFO you want, MOBO, GPU, HDD, Avail ram, CD/DVD. Also, include temperature readings of CPU, GPU, HDD, and MOBO. If you can, add a function to change fan speeds.

alright Licht, what's the best proggie for .NET development? I am making a 20G partition on my laptop for a minimal install of XP as we speak.
__________________or should i do c++ as suggested by grimo? It would be faster and harder...hmm so it interests me ![]() also i would learn how to interact with Windows API thru C instead of the ez mode (.NET) but i might do more than one proggie, if i do then i'll do this in .NET
