Well, Dev-C++ isn't a compiler. It is an Integrated Development Environment.

Also, Windows automatically closes command line interface executables when they are finished, so the behavior of your program is normal. A workaround is to open cmd.exe, and run the executable directly from a command line.

Start -> run
type "cmd"

Then "cd" to the directory where your project is saved. Type the name of the ouput executable, and press enter.

Hey man, that compiled on VC6, I know this is old, but VC6 is a nice enough compiler it should work on Windows. Acctually, I'll state that I belive it's windows best compiler. Now I'm with Xaimus on the fact that I do 95% of my programming in UNIX. If VC6 throughs a random error like it does time to time, try looking over the code, clean it up a bit. If it still throughs a random error reboot VC6 then if it's a really random error that isn't with the code then it will not through it anymore.
