Yes, my beloved Opteron 150 CABNE 0528 might go on the chopping block to get sold. I bought it when the opteron fad was about to peak, got lucky with an OUTRAGEOUS stepping (no cold bug, specifically). I've used it moderately (40-50 actual hours), never been past 2.75 (never phased or watered it).

I am now using an FX55 (CABNE 0524) since DFI does not officially support Opteron's on their boards.

I have never removed the IHS, it is not lapped, nor have I bent any pins.

(May consider doing a package deal with this Opteron and the Chilly1 I am currently seeking appraisals on)

Are you seeing better results with the FX-55. The reason I ask is because I have an opty 146 and have got it clocked to 3.0GHZ...however with the price of the FX's falling, I might have to jump to a different bandwagon as well...

My HD died about 10 minutes after my transplant, so no new results comparing the FX to the opteron. I will say that some of the oddity issues I was having went away switching from the opteron to the FX (in terms of odd bios issues, keyboard issues, boot issues). I believe this is DFI/Opteron specific as DFI is adamant they don't want to see opterons on their boards.

In my eyes, the processors are virtually identical except for multipliers, they both have opteron steppings, and were manufactured 4 weeks apart.

At 3.0 on air, I'd stick with your 146 for now though
